What is a Relationship Coach?
A relationship coach aids couples in learning essential communication skills, conflict resolution strategies and helps release barriers to intimacy. You may have a good marriage, but need help in getting over a hurdle in your relationship. You may have lost the intimate connection with your partner, developed trust issues and/or found that getting through sensitive conversations is challenging. Relationship coaching can be a breath of fresh air for the relationship, during a time of need.
What’s The Purpose of a Relationship Coach?
Relationships are essential to our experience of joy in the world. Outside of your experience with your own parents growing up, there is no training on how to deepen your relationship. Falling in love is an incredible experience, but research shows that couples, after about 2-3 years in a relationship, begin to experience disconnection and conflict.
When this occurs many couples assume that they chose the wrong mate and divorce. Our relationship coach knows that this is part of a developmental process and an opportunity to know your partner on a deeper level. Simply loving your partner is not enough for genuine intimacy to develop.
Your relationship coach will teach you about the developmental process of intimate relationships, assist you in identifying where you’re stuck and lay out a proven path for moving forward.
What Can You Expect From a Relationship Coach?
A relationship coach will help each of you increase your awareness, identify and accept differences between the two of you and teach you how to have productive communication around the issues that really matter.
You’ll learn how to feel safe with your partner and trust will increase. You’ll learn about what makes you each feel most loved and practical ways to create more connection. When trust and empathy increase in a relationship, most couples experience a direct effect on their love life.
How Does The Process of Relationship Coaching Start?
Your relationship coach will begin with an evaluation using interviewing techniques, questionnaires and assessments. Together with your relationship coach, you will co-create a plan of action with goals.
In the beginning it’s important to identify the challenges you are facing as well as the greatest hopes for the future of the relationship. Our coaching intake session is designed to collect this information quickly so that you can get started on creating the type of relationship you desire.
Intake sessions are 2-hours in length and often involve you each meeting one-on-one with your relationship coach in the first hour and the second hour is spent with the couple together. Your coach will provide a safe place to talk about delicate issues. Trust in your coach will begin right away.

Who’s The Best Relationship Coach For Us?
First and foremost, you need to work with a coach who’s invested in relationships and has a strong passion for working with couples. You want someone who is steeped in proven research about how healthy couples relate, get along and build strong relationships.
You need a coach who will serve the sacred space between the two of you, the relationship. An excellent coach will not choose sides or over-emphasize individual needs at the expense of what’s best for the couple. A quality relationship coach knows how to balance the needs of the individual, while at the same time supporting the relationship.
Don’t hesitate to ask your coach what they’re approach and philosophy is about relationships. Some couples coaches take a traditional approach and will support the relationship at all cost, while pushing individual needs and concerns into the backseat. That’s not who we are. We only support traditional relationships when couples make it clear that that’s what they desire. We believe that a co-created relationship works best for the needs and desires of most couples.
How Much Does It Cost To Work With a Relationship Coach?
You’ll find different rates for relationship coaching. The fee is usually based on the coaches education, training and experience. Many coaches charge $200 - $250 for couples coaching. Even though our relationship coaches have excellent training and experience, we like to make our relationship coaching affordable for the average couple. We charge an initial fee of $350 for a two hour intake coaching session and then all subsequent sessions are $150 each.
Most couples meet with their relationship coach weekly, over a period of 12 weeks and then move to close out or set up a maintenance schedule. If you’re seeking relationship coaches near me, you’ve come to the right place.
